I was heard that some scientists suggest that physics may be different depending on the location in your universe.

Yes,they claim there are different laws of physics in parrarel universes

The laws of physics are the same throughout the universe. What scientists mean is there are some (quite a lot) they do not understand or know. So they theorize , parallel universes, different dimensions, and Flat universes etc. All theory, most of it based upon theory.
