  • At the centre of all galaxies is a Black Hole.DateTue Mar 06, 2012 5:41 am

    Further to the above.
It is my belief that for matter to exist it must interact. This interaction is the instigation of energy/ force. If this energy/ force grows so strong as to contain matter, as in a black hole, matter must win out eventually. Coz when matter increases, so to the energy/ force it produces and must out grow the containing force of a black hole.
A black hole is created by the gravity of mass trying to concentrate matter into a single point, a finality.
    There are two theories:
    (1) That the finality can not be reached and the increase in attracted matter overpowers the force = Big Bang.
    (2) That the finality is reached, but for a nano- second at a zero point = Big Bang.
    Personally I go for (1).

IMO. It is not time which does not flow but the interaction of matter in the normal way. Even in a black hole where forces are so great, there is no such thing as static matter.
A sun converts matter into radiating energy. A black hole converts matter into enegy that can't radiate because the attractive forces are to great. But eventually the amount of 'locked in' energy overpowers these forces.. = Big Bang.
I do not pretend to understand how these forces work, even Einstien could not work it out. The only sure fact is that black holes exist, and we can only base our understanding on the knowledge we have at the moment.
This simple analogy gives an insight but not an answer:
If a barrier or force slows the flow of a river, the river would burst it's banks. But what if we add a force to stop the river from bursting it's banks. It's the old story of an enevitable force meeting an immovable object. There can be only one result = Big Bang?

Not really. All matter is interactive. So anywhere is a potential "my point" (which I don't think 'Rainbowdragon meant actually).
IMO All matter is in an interactive continuum. And is attracted to the nearest strongest or bigger force. This is a knock on effect which causes larger and larger groups, which are also attracted to others. And so on.
Suns are formed with by products of planets etc. Larger masses interact to join or destroy each other. Massive suns may implode into black holes which attract (even other back holes)
Matter is created when a black hole explodes causing forces to exceed the speed of light, or try too.

The black hole. What could be holding all the stars and what not together?

The forces of a black hole, which attract matter, to an increasing amount as to create a galaxy.

Matter must come first, however I believe that a black hole begins in the microcosm, and that they are plentiful and an integral part of the forces of the Universe.
As a black hole grows it attracks more matter. Eventually increasing over millions of years to amass a galaxy around it.
Then at a given size it explodes... Big Bang.

What if there is no gravity?Everything falls apart?

    No gravity.... No Nothing.

Could a white hole start space and time itself?Causing space to expand?

This seems to be the current theory. However it's more likely that the birth and death of galaxies is the way of the universe. Time as a force or 'item' in my opinion does not exist. Time is a descriptive word for what the universe does. The same as 'flow' is the descriptive word for what a river does.
The particles, atoms, mass, forces, of the universe are interactive continually, and can not be arrested.
Space is a more difficult subject. I believe it exists and does not 'start' but as to its limits and its nature...... Well, I'm still working on it??

That's a theory that appears to be right, according to Einstein, the particles are "eaten" by th black holes and ejected out of white holes but so far,we've never detect a white hole.

The 'big bang' was a white hole, but not for the creation of the universe. Only for the demise and re-birth of a nearby galaxy.

Gravity is the force that makes the universe tick, but what exactly is it?

I know,Gravity is something discovered by Isaacasaurus Newton

Lol.. But there is a world of difference between discovery and definition.

I don't think these features are necessary for life to evolve. But to find a mirror image of our solar system would be extraordinary.

  • How many inhabited planets are there in our galaxy?DateFri Feb 24, 2012 6:16 pm

Perhaps I should have been more specific. I meant with civilizations on a par with ours or more advanced. In other words intelligent life forms!

This is the driving force of galaxies, and eventually all the stars and planets will disappear into it. This continuing birth and death cycle is what makes the universe.
